The Roman Cup Memorial Ontario Junior Open and the Sporting
Life Ontario Open were held in Ottawa at the Rideau Club between July 29th
and August 3rd. The Roman Cup was created in honour of local tennis
professional Roman Kowalski and signifies his and his family’s passion for and
dedication to tennis. These championships have been steadily growing in popularity
and this year there were well over four hundred entries. That’s a lot of tennis!

Congratulations to all the champions and players who saw success and a big thank you to the
OTA staff, the officials, the Rideau Club and all the parents and players who
helped make sure that this event was completed and that this highlight of the
summer played on the long weekend in the middle of summer was such a great
success. There was even a 128 draw
one-point tournament played to keep things fun and light!
